Which product?
The real difference between Surface Armor™ and EA Color Armor™ is how fine the matrix is, and how thick a layer you can lay down.
Not either/or: some jobs are step 1 and step 2EA Asphalt Repair
Fix structural damage first. Cracks wider than 1/8 in (3 mm) need to be filled with this first, before any finish.
A seamless topcoat that matches the surrounding surface. Can be textured.
Seals hairline fissures and adds durable traffic or safety color.
Primary role
Material formulation
Texture & profile
Color availability
Vapor permeability
Application methods
Best used for
• High-traffic roadway patches
• Structural concrete/asphalt repair
• Micro-trenching reinstatement
• Filling surface cracks
• Seamless topcoat over Elephant Armor®
• Traffic/safety line marking
• Sport court surfacing
• Vertical & horizontal applications

Coverage calculator
Enter the area. Get bags, Mixing Fluid and Color Lok™.
Coverage is approximate and changes with the porosity of the surface. Covering entire concrete panels may take additional coats to reach the color you want.

Mix and place
Batches of 10 lb (4.5 kg) or less. Mix only what you can place in the set time.
A sound plays when the time is up. On an iPhone, the silent switch on the side can mute it.
Mix until the batch is homogeneous. A ColloMix Xo-55 Duo mixer gives the best results. Without one, use a drill with a Grout & Mortar bit.
EA Color Armor™ cures fast. Keep extra water on hand to clean mixer blades and tools as you use them. Keep the Mixing Fluid ratio exactly 1:1 by volume in every batch.
Application steps
The EA Color Armor™ System, in order.
1Prepare the surface
- Clean, sound, and free of oil, grease, dirt, curing compounds and acids.
- A contaminated surface may need pretreatment with GST Degreaser Pro or Pro-Grade Cleaner, then power washing.
- Profile extremely dense or smooth surfaces by bead blasting or grinding.
- Concrete must be saturated surface dry (SSD): damp, no standing water. Asphalt does not need SSD.
- No separate primer is needed with the EA Color Armor™ System.
- Repair major spalls, displacements and cracks wider than 1/8 in (3 mm) with Elephant Armor® DOT Mortar first.
2First coat on weak concrete
- Best practice on concrete that shows distress or salt damage.
- One light coat of Color Lok™ at about 200 ft²/gal (4.9 m²/L). Do not over apply.
- Let it cure 72 hours.
- Re-clean thoroughly to remove contaminants brought to the surface.
- The kit covers the final coat. Buy additional Color Lok™ for this first application.
3Mix
- 1 part EA Color Armor™ to 1 part Color Armor™ Mixing Fluid, by volume.
- Fluff the dry powder in a clean, dry bucket, then add the Mixing Fluid.
- Mix 30 to 45 seconds, until homogeneous.
- Batches of 10 lb (4.5 kg) or less. Initial set is 10 to 15 minutes.
4Apply EA Color Armor™
- Surface overlay: it goes on like paint. Use a GST Smooth Roller (preferred), a paint brush or most spray equipment.
- Curbs and gutters: a 1/8 to 1/2 in (3 to 13 mm) nap roller. Large horizontal surfaces: an 18 in (46 cm) GST Smooth Roller.
- Crack fill: pour into the crack to rejection and remove the excess with a sponge or micro-fiber pad. Use a syringe for extremely fine cracks.
- On large areas, mix small batches continuously.
5Cure, then Color Lok™
- Let EA Color Armor™ cure at least 3 hours, depending on the ambient temperature.
- One even, light coat of Color Lok™ with a low-pressure sprayer, 350 to 400 ft²/gal (8.6 to 9.8 m²/L).
- Spread with a clean concrete finishing broom so it does not pool.
6Back in service
- Open to traffic 3 hours after Color Lok™.
- Wait 5 to 7 days for light cleaning, and 21 days for heavy cleaning.
Do not bridge joints. Honor existing expansion and control joints. Do not use on working cracks.
